Cheryl is currently serving on your city council and seeks your vote for re-election in November.
Her project management experience has allowed her to bring the skills of analysis, risk assessment, problem solving, and leadership to the role of city councilor.
The 2025 Flat Fire destroyed four homes and 21,000 acres just 2 miles northeast of Sisters. This fire was a serious reminder of the risk facing our community.
In 2025, I worked with my fellow councilors to define defensible space standards and building hardening for all new development and I voted to pass Ordinance 543 and 545 putting these standards into effect.
In 2026, I proposed changes to the Municipal Code to restrict the size of recreational fires within city limits to match the standards of the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire district including the banning of bonfires.
I will continue to work with council and staff on defensible space standards of existing development and seek to see all residents educated on wildfire and evacuation preparedness.
Proactive planning is key to a healthy city. Population growth is inevitable, but proper planning and managed growth can help keep our city special.
If re-elected, I will continue to support the UGB Amendment process and the proposed amendment area (Concept A.a).
I will continue to advocate for our city's Vision Plan of a “resilient, prosperous, livable, connected Sisters” as we plan for the future.
I’m a strong believer that policies for large cities may not work for our small town and could be a detriment to our special community.
I am diligent in policy-making decisions and focus on what is best for our city overall.
In addition, citizens need to know their voices are recognized and valued in the decision-making process. Working together, we can help keep Sisters special!
As your city councilor, I was instrumental in bringing the Mobile Employment Resource Van (MERV) to Sisters on a regular basis to help local citizens seeking employment. MERV provides employment counseling and assistance with creating resumes, completing job applications, applying for jobs online, and even connecting with local employers. These resources are critical for rural towns like Sisters.
I support incentives to encourage builders and non-profits to construct and sell homes at affordabale prices for low-to-median income households. In addition, a forward-thinking plan to ensure homeownership is sustainable including affordable utilities, insurance and home-maintenance programs.
I believe economic diversity through affordable living is essential for our city and a benefit to our local businesses and services.
I support the designation of land specific to our affordable housing-needs during the annexation of the amended Urban Growth Boundary.
Sisters residents are a valuable source of information and ideas.
Open communication between city government and the community is key in building trust.
I champion civil discourse amoungst our community during challenging city decisions.
I value a city council that listens to citizen opinion and ensures citizens have sufficient information to form knowledgeable opinions.
I advocate for continued focus on improvements to our public safety.
Traffic safety was the number one concern of citizens in a city survey. Making improvements to our roads to ensure safety of our residents and visitors should remain a top priority.
I fully support our Public Works, Deputy Sheriff and Fire departments and all they do to keep us safe.
I look forward to continue partnering with my fellow councilors to form a productive and effective council.
Our city has an impressive staff ensuring a safe, reliable operation of our town.
Our commissions and advisory boards also serve a much needed role in providing important input and recommendations.
I respect the work done by city staff, commissions and boards and will continue to maintain a strong working relationship with all.

With a strong desire to serve her community, Cheryl has volunteered her time and skills towards multiple efforts. Her support has included volunteering for non-profits and serving on city council.
In 2024, Cheryl founded "Romeo's Joy", an Age-Friendly Sisters Country community project to help combat social isolation and comfort aging residents and those living with disabilities in our city.
In 2020, Cheryl and her husband retired early from their IT careers to escape a hectic, stressful and crowded city for a simpler life. Bringing only what would fit in their RV, they headed to the beauty of Sisters, Oregon.
"It was everything we dreamed of - a quaint, safe town surrounded by beauty and with friendly people. Somehow we knew this beautiful place was our new home."
"My career and city council experience has taught me to listen, ask questions, analyze information and assess the impact of the options put before me in order to make effective decisions.
With your vote, I will continue to bring these skills to the work of your city council.
Thank you!"
